Un appartamento con i ratti (rats)?

Eric milling over apartment listings. So far we've seen four and have been impressed with one. Which would you rather have, an oven in a decent location or a slightly more ideal location with a bug infested mattress?

Props to Eric as he is wheeling and dealing with landlords in Italian one week after arrival. Me? I just sit and take pictures.

Please keep in mind that comments are open--we really are interested in feedback on the niceness vs. location question. Keep in mind, many of you may be visiting: so choose wisely.

One good thing about the nicer place is that it's also easily accessible to bus lines to get almost everywhere you'd want to in the city.

As far as 'wheeling and dealing' on the phone goes, I usually just grunt, but in a very expressive way.

We sure as hell are visiting and we want a nice place to stay, spoken by a mildly drunk Dan, who didn't buy his wine for one euro.

The less belligerent Liddy knows that Al can make a Clean, Well-Lighted Place of any apartment. Go for location.

We're buying out tickets this weekend! Get crackin!

My two cents chooses cleanliness over anything. If we're talking about spiderwebs in the corners and windows covered in grime--these things can be fixed. A new matress however? Not so easy. And no one wants to sleep with bed bugs or rats. =)

yeah, actuall one of the things we were worried about in one of the apartments was the mattress (along with the more general, shall we say, well-used look of the place)--i think i saw a small family of lemmings living inside it.

Bedbugs?!?! I may be willing to sleep on the floor, like a sardine, but bugs, lemmings, etc. is a hard sell. I'd take a bus line over lice and rats anyday.
